Our training philosophy is to keep things as simple and natural as possible and use positive reinforcement training techniques. Most of the horses we train go on to make really stable older horses. Our clients like that. We're not saying that some horses don't need a stern hand, but you get better results in the long run, from going at the horse's pace than by intimidating the horse into going at the pace you think is faster. It's easier to train a horse who is willing to cooperate than one who has been frightened by forceful techniques and is in the classic "flee-from-danger" mode all the time. Click on any link below and enjoy the articles.
When we're finished with the first level of training, our two year olds have learned basic dressage movements and can bend and move laterally away from your heel or spur, back up, hold their shoulders up at a lope and turn on the forehand and hindquarters. We don't push a horse past their capability to understand and retain each lesson. That's why you see our client's horses out in the show ring as older horses. Due to the large number of e-mail requests we receive every day, concerning problems our Paint "friends" experience with their horses, I'm going to slowly add articles to our web site, which should eventually cover most problem areas. Please feel free to let us know what you'd like me to discuss here, and we'll see what we can come up with. We enjoy all of your e-mail letters and are happy to lend a helping hand! Contact us if you would like to put your horse in
training or need help showing. Private
